This series is set in Victorian England and features Thomas Pitt a Police Inspector and his wife Charlotte. This series started in 1979 but there are e-books and paperbacks available.... even for the first book in the series. Even though Thomas is a police inspector and Charlotte comes from high society. This makes for a great combination because Charlotte is able to help solve the murder from a different angle. Anne Perry also writes a Christmas Mystery series that features characters from the Pitt series.
