Alan Bradley writes the Flavia de Luce Series which started in 2009 and takes place in England. It features eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce. The year is 1950 and Flavia de Luce along with her eccentric family live in a decaying mansion. Flavia has a passion for chemistry-- the only family member that visits the mansion's abandoned Victorian chemistry laboratory.
