Victoria Thompson is the Edgar(r) Award-nominated author of the Gaslight Mystery series which started in 1999 and is set in turn-of-the-century New York. It features Midwife, Sarah Brandt and Police Detective, Frank Malloy. Sarah is estranged from her wealthy family for marrying below her class (a doctor). Now as a widow she must make an income and becomes a Midwife. She helps Detective Malloy solve murders for New York's richest families. Victoria Thompson is also the author of 20 other historical novels.
